Requirements of student membership for secondary students

1. Preliminary to Full Membership 

To allow more potential gifted students to benefit from our programmes, a new screening arrangement was implemented from 2015/16. Student nominees shortlisted will become our preliminary student members who are eligible to participate in designated programmes. In order to obtain full membership, students are required to meet the related programme completion requirements within the first Student Learning Profile (SLP) review period (Please click here for more information about the Student Learning Profile). The first review period runs from the date of admission to 31 August of the following year. (For example, a student member who is admitted in March 2017 will have to meet the requirement within the period from March 2017 to 31 August 2018.)

For student members who are admitted from Secondary School Nomination 2016/17 & 2017/18 and Self Nomination for Secondary Students 2016/17 & 2017/18

*1 The list of online screening programmes for secondary students is available on our website. For  student members who are admitted from 2016/17, they must complete the designated online screening programme on or before 30 March 2018. If students fail to complete and pass the final assessment of the designated online learning programme prior to the deadline, the students also fail to obtain the full membership. Please complete the designated online screening programme as early as possible to allow sufficient time to enroll and complete the face-to-face programme. 

*2 In order to complete the online screening programme, students have to pass the final assessment of the programme. Students will be notified of their eligiblility to enroll in any face-to-face programme within 5 weeks upon completion of the designated online programme.

*3 Domains of face-to-face programmes include Advanced Learning Experiences, Humanities, Leadership, Mathematics, Multi-disciplinary Programmes, Personal Growth and Social Development and Sciences. In order to complete the face-to-face programme, students have to fulfil the relevant programme completion requirements as required. For student members who are admitted from 2016/17, they must complete the face-to-face programme(s) on or before 31 August 2018. 2018 summer programme application will be around April 2018.

2. Requirement for Renewal of Existing Full Membership

Full members must complete at least 1 programme/activity# each review period to sustain full membership. Any programmes/activities in ANY domains including talks, student sharing group, online programmes (& the related enhancement workshops) which are shown on Student Learning Profile (SLP) are counted. Review period runs from 1/9 each year to 31/8 of the following year.

# Student members who have an existing domain in full membership and a newly admitted domain in preliminary membership have to fulfill the completion requirements in their newly admitted domain as required in order to obtain a full membership. Those programmes can be counted as the 1 programme/activity required to sustain their full membership.
