Requirements of student membership for primary students

1. Student Members Admitted from School Year 2018/19 onwards

The first review period is from admission date to 31 August of the following school year. (For example, a student member who is admitted in December 2018 will have to meet the requirements within the period from December 2018 to 31 August 2020.)

For primary student members who are admitted through “School Nomination”, “Self Nomination”, “Web-based Learning Courses for Gifted/More Able Students offered by EDB and HKAGE” or “Nurturing the Gifted Scheme”, they are required to successfully complete a common-core programme ‘Let us shine!’ within the first review period to sustain their membership.

“Let us shine!” is an interactive workshop that helps gifted students understand giftedness, explore their strengths, develop social competence and seek the meaning of being gifted.

  

2. Student Members Admitted in School Year 2017/18

Student nominees shortlisted will become our preliminary student members who are eligible to participate in designated programmes. In order to obtain full membership, students are required to meet the related programme completion requirements within the first review periodThe first review period runs from the date of admission to 31 August of the following year.  (For example, a student member who is admitted in January 2018 will have to meet the requirements within the period from January 2018 to 31 August 2019.)

*1 The list of online programmes for primary students will be available on our websiteFor student members who are admitted from 2017/18, they must complete the designated online screening programme on or before 30 December 2018.  If students fail to complete and pass the final assessment of the designated online learning programme prior to the deadline, the students also fail to obtain the full membership. Please complete the designated online screening programme as early as possible to allow sufficient time to enroll and complete the face-to-face programme. 

*2 In order to complete the online screening programme, students have to pass the final assessment of the programme. Students will be notified of their eligiblility to enroll in any face-to-face programme within 5 weeks upon completion of the designated online screening programme.

*3 Domains of face-to-face programmes include Humanities, Languages, Leadership, Mathematics, Multi-disciplinary Programmes, Personal Growth and Social Development and Sciences. In order to complete the face-to-face programme, students have to fulfil the relevant programme completion requirements as required For student members who are admitted from 2017/18, they must complete the face-to-face programme(s) on or before 31 August 2019.

  
3. Confirmation of Secondary Student Membership (Applicable for Student Members Admitted from 2015/16 to 2017/18 School Years)

In addition to the first review period and school year requirements, for primary student members who are admitted from 2015/16 to 2017/18 school years, they are required to successfully complete the common-core programme “Let us shine!” under Personal Growth and Social Development for confirmation of their secondary student membership.

For student member who are studying primary four and primary five at the time of admission, they are required to complete the "Let us shine!" programme before their promotion to secondary one. For student member who are studying in primary six at the time of admission, they are required to complete the "Let us shine!" programme before their promotion to secondary two.

For student member who are studying P4 and P5 at the time of admission

For student member who are studying in P6 at the time of admission

For ALL primary full members admitted from 2015/16 to 2017/18 school years

To complete the "Let us shine!" programme before their promotion to S1

To complete the "Let us shine!" programme before their promotion to S2

Primary student members who complete the common-core programme and fulfill the school year requirement will be confirmed as our secondary school student member of the respective domain(s)* with a new student number assigned.

4. School Year Requirement

Review period runs from 1 September each year to 31 August of the following year.

After the first review period, all student members must complete at least 1 programme/activity in each school year to sustain their membership. Any programmes/activities in ANY domains, including talks, student sharing group, online programmes which are shown on Student Learning Profile (SLP) are counted.
