Asian Youth Development and Networking Program (ILO/010)

Asian Youth Development and Networking Program organised by Nanjo City, Ie Village and Tokashiki Village, Okinawa will be held from 2 to 14 August 2018 in Okinawa, Japan.  The HKAGE is being invited to nominate two student members (full member) at age between 15 and 18 years old have a keen interest in and desire to learn about regional issues to join the program.

Asian Youth Development and Networking Program invite a total of two students from Hong Kong and 22 students from 11 other countries to visit Okinawa, Japan.  All participants will come together in Okinawa and take part in various environment-related activities including field trips, lectures by prominent speakers, as well as discussions.  The results of these activities will be presented publicly at the end of the program.

This overseas programme provides student members with opportunities to

  • rediscover regional charm and diverse way of thinking by studying regional challenges;
  • experience learning in another country and enhance their knowledge;
  • meet talented high school students in science & environmental science across Asia; and
  • promote cultural exchange while enhancing their academic development.

Session 3

<Nanjo City>

August 7th – 9th

  • Courtesy call to Nanjo City Mayor
  • Okinawa world, Gyokusendo

  • Sightseeing and experience activity of Nanjo City
  • Lecture by AYNIT OB/OG and Exchange program with them
  • Exchange program with Nanjo City junior, senior high school students and AYNIT OB/OG

  • Speech “Self-independent Education for the preparation of leaving the island”

Language:

English

Target:

  • 2 secondary school students with the ages between 15 and 18 (must be 15-18 as of 1 April 2018);
  • have a keen interest in and desire to learn about regional issues;
  • have a reasonable command of English for discussion (not merely daily conversations, but enough English ability to actively participate in discussions);
  • be able to stay in Okinawa for the entire days and participate in all the activities of the program (including transit time to and from Okinawa);
  • be in good health, both physically and mentally, and have no meal restrictions (except from allergies or religious grounds);
  • have the mental fortitude to carry out group activities throughout the entire trip;
  • have extensive knowledge of his/her own society, culture, etc.; and
  • HKAGE student members are welcome

Fee :

There will be no registration fees and the organizing committee will provide the participants’ living and local expenses.  The organizing committee will also cover the round-trip air ticket (economy class) between the airports designated by the organizing committee, including airport taxes, departure taxes, transit taxes. (Excess baggage charges will not be paid.)

Travel document and visa:

Students must bring along their travel document which is valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of departure and a Japan visa (if applicable)

Rules and Regulations during the activity:

  • Participants are required to follow the round-trip flight schedule designated by the executive committee;
  • Participants should strictly observe the program schedule;
  • Participants may not be accompanied by any family during the program,
  • Parents/relatives are strongly discouraged from calling their child during the program, and the participants are allowed to call their parents/relatives only at designated times;
  • In case of emergency, participants/parents can make contact with parents/participants through the executive committee or a commissioned organization.
  • Participants are not allowed to use their mobile phones or smartphones during the program you may be charged a costly International fee.  (Participants’ mobile phones will be held by a commissioned organization.)
  • Participants will adhere to the host family ‘s rules and schedule during the homestay.
  • Participants will not take part in activities of those designated by the executive committee and the Cabinet Office of Japan, for example commercial transactions, religious missions, etc.

Applicants should complete the followings -

to the HKAGE on or before 30 May 2018 (Wed) via email to apd@hkage.org.hk or by fax to 3940 0202 to complete the application process. Late submission will not be entertained.

Screening interview:

  • The shortlisted result will be announced on 4 Jun 2018 (Mon). Shortlisted applicants are required to attend a screening interview held on 8 Jun 2018 (Fri). Absences will be considered as withdrawal. Make-up interviews will not be arranged.

Shortlisted applicants should log in the “Programme Application Result” in the HKAGE website to check the application result after 5:00 p.m. on 20 Jun 2018 (Wed).
